Human remains found in search for ‘Jacky’ Chong Kai Wong near Bathurst, NSW

Human remains believed to be those of “Jacky” Chong Kai Wong have been found on a rural property north-west of Bathurst in New South Wales.

A police task force investigating a suspected drug syndicate in 2021 discovered the then-24-year-old Malaysian national had disappeared.

Mr Wong is believed to have died between December 25, 2020 and January 8, 2021.

Police alleged he was involved in organised crime at the time of his death.

Investigators began a search of a rural property at Killongbutta last Tuesday.

At about 3.30pm yesterday, they found human remains, which will undergo forensic examination and DNA testing.

The remains have not been formally identified, but police believe they are those of Mr Wong.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
