State by state guide to the weather forecast across Australia for the Easter long weekend

The sun is set to be out across the country this Easter weekend with flood-affected areas set to be hit with a much-needed dry reprieve over the holiday period.

“We’re going to see a cold front reaching the south-west and WA by around Easter Sunday, and then it’ll push towards the south-eastern states by Easter Monday and that’ll bring cooler weather and some increased cloud and showers,” BoM meteorologist Miriam Bradbury told 9News.

“It’s not looking like an extreme weather event at this stage. Certainly not. But it will be a little bit of a cool change across our Easter weekend.”

Here is a snapshot of what the weather is forecast to be like this Easter weekend.

Sydney is forecast to have a mostly sunny Easter weekend with temperatures expected to reach a warm 27C on Easter Monday.

The BoM says that flood affected parts of the state can breathe a sigh of relief as no severe rainfall is forecast for this weekend.

“The rainfall totals across the Easter weekend are looking pretty low,” Ms Bradbury said.

“So that is really good news for those areas which are still seeing ongoing flood recovery efforts, and certainly for the central and south coast of NSW, which have been hitting the most recent bout of rainfall and flooding that we saw just last week,” she said.

Like NSW, Victoria is also forecast to experience dry conditions this Easter weekend.

But Ms Bradbury said Melbourne could start seeing some showers coming through on Easter Monday.

Temperatures in the city are expected to remain on the higher side with Friday, Saturday and Sunday set to be 26C, 27C and 28C respectively.

The temperature will drastically drop on Monday to 19C.

The Queensland coast is set to be hit with rain this weekend.

Temperatures are forecast to remain at a high 27C throughout the four-day Easter holiday period in Brisbane, while partly cloudy conditions with a chance of showers are set to dominate the weekend.

Perth is set to remain fairly settled this Easter weekend according to the BoM.

Friday is set to be sunny with a maximum temperature of 29C forecast.

And Saturday will be partly sunny with a high of 27C.

“We should start to see some cloud building as that front approaches in or pushes through on Easter Sunday,” Ms Bradbury said.

In South Australia Adelaide is set to yo-yo between being partly cloudy and mostly sunny.

Temperatures are forecast to reach a maximum of 30C on Saturday, but are then expected to drop to 23C on Monday with partly cloudy conditions fully setting in and a medium chance of showers.

In the Top End temperatures are set to oscillate between 34C and 35C.

On Friday in Darwin the BoM is forecasting a mostly sunny day with some partly cloudy conditions along with a slight chance of showers.

The possibility of rain is set to continue throughout the weekend.

“Tasmania is likely to see some partly cloudy conditions continuing throughout,” Ms Bradbury said.

“It’s more prone to showers so we likely will see some sunny patches through the Friday and the Saturday but showers increasing on the Sunday,” she said.

For the first half of the weekend temperatures will stay at a maximum of 21C.
