Posted On April 18, 2022
Emergency services were called to Coonabarabran Airport on the Newell Highway yesterday at 4pm, following reports that a Cessna 172 light aircraft had crashed.
It is believed the aircraft also departed from that same airport earlier in the day.
A passer-by who witnessed the incident came to the aid of the 57-year-old, pulling him from the wreckage and attempting to perform CPR; however, by the time paramedics arrived, the man could not be revived.
Police are currently conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash and a crime scene has been established.
He has yet to be formally identified and a coroner report is being prepared.
