A senior policeman remains in hospital after an alleged assault outside a Gold Coast nightclub.
He is the second officer to be hospitalised following two separate incidents outside the same club in two days.
The 34-year-old officer received significant injuries to the face after a 28-year-old man from Victoria allegedly attacked him during a weapons check outside the Havana RnB nightclub last night.
“Whilst in the process of requiring that male to undergo wanding, that male has also lashed out at officers,” Superintendent Rhys Wildman said.
“The senior constable, the officer actually fell to the ground and the male was tasered as a result of that particular interaction.”
The 28-year-old is now facing charges including serious assault of a police officer.
On Saturday night, another police officer was hospitalised after being allegedly king hit from behind, knocked unconscious by a drunk 21-year-old outside the same club.
He has since been released.
Another officer sustained facial injuries during the altercation.
“Words quite don’t come to mind about how I’m feeling at the moment about my staff, especially the one in hospital,” Superintendent Wildman said.
“Three officers have actually been injured in the course of doing what our officers are paid to do and obviously love to do.”
The 21-year-oldand a 43-year-old were charged over the alleged attack.
All three of the accused men have been banned from the Safe Night precincts.
