Queensland boy airlifted to hospital after vicious dog attack

A toddler is recovering after being attacked by a dog in Queensland‘s Gympie region.

The young boy, believed to be aged four, suffered “significant facial injuries” and was air-lifted to hospital, a spokesperson for the Queensland Ambulance Service said.

The boy was in a stable condition when the transfer took place.

Emergency services were called to a private property in Widgee on the Sunshine Coast at about 2pm yesterday.

It is not yet clear what breed of dog was responsible for the attack.

A spokesperson for Queensland police said the matter would be dealt with by Gympie Regional Council.

The attack comes alongside reports of a separate incident where a woman was allegedly set upon by a dog at Froggy Beach, Coolangatta, on the Gold Coast.

According to social media posts, the woman was set upon by a stranger’s dog.

But the Gold Coast City Council said it is yet to receive an official complaint.
