Police hunt for Adelaide hoon after chase

A dangerous driver remains on the run in Adelaide after allegedly stealing a car from a home in Hampstead Gardens before leading police on a chase through northern and western suburbs.

CCTV captured the moment the stolen car cut through a playground, colliding with a tree and mowing down a fence.

Stephen Wright was watching TV in the front room with his family home when they heard the bang.

“It just hit and it sounded like … you could say small explosion,” Mr Wright said.

Despite the collision, the driver managed to get away.

“By the time I came out, the car was already down the street and I looked across and you could see where it came through.”

The driver eventually stopped at an intersection and dumped the vehicle.

Officers immediately set up cordon on Herbert Street and deployed the dog squad to locate the driver, without any luck.
