Homicide detectives investigating after woman found dead in Melbourne

Police are today investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman in Melbourne last night.

Emergency services were called to an address in Patrick Avenue at Croydon North about 10.15pm after reports of an assault.

Paramedics worked on a woman found with critical injuries.

The woman who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

A 40-year-old Croydon North man is assisting police with their inquiries.
