Queensland man critical after alleged one-punch assault

The 44-year-old man had been at a licensed venue on Duporth Avenue in Maroochydore around 9.15 pm last night when he became involved in an argument with another man.

Police said the argument between the two men, who were known to each other, quickly escalated.

The 44-year-old was allegedly punched in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.

He was knocked unconscious and sustained serious head injuries.

Paramedics, including critical care, were called to the scene, transporting him to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

He has since been transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

No arrests have been made in relation to the attack, with police still searching for the other man involved.

Police have called on any witnesses to come forward.

The investigation continues.
