Senior Melbourne doctor quits, warning staff burnout

Professor John Wilson has warned lives are at risk if healthcare workers are continually pushed beyond their limits.

WIlson is the outgoing president of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and worked at The Alfred for 30 years.

“We have to protect all our trainees in the system.”

A study by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians released in November last year found 87 per cent of their members were concerned about staff burn out.
